Homeowners, it’s time to put the apple cider vinegar to use!
For plenty of homeowners, that bottle of apple cider vinegar is a staple. It sits in the cupboard, waiting to be sprinkled on a salad – only now and again. Well, it’s time to get it out, wipe the dust off, and start using it around the house.
Yes, apple cider vinegar has plenty of uses around the house, believe it or not! Check out these useful ways!
- Remove candle wax. Remove as much wax as you can by hand, then use a 1:1 mixture of vinegar and water to remove the rest – leaves your candle holders good as new.
- Unclog drains. Mix a half cup of baking soda with one cup of vinegar and pour down your drain. Note that this does produce a volcano effect, but it is less harsh than the chemical cleaners.
- Clean your bath and shower. Does your bathroom suffer from mildew? Mix apple cider vinegar with an equal part of water and get scrubbing for a sparkling shower!
- Freshens wood. Ditch the Pledge and mix ¼ cup of vinegar with two cups of water and two tablespoons of olive oil. This will bring back the shine into lack luster wooden surfaces.
- Clean your cutting board. Your cutting boards are a hotspot for bacteria. Give them a once-over with straight apple cider vinegar to keep them bacteria free.
- Clean your fridge. Baking soda may keep odors out, but vinegar does a better job at removing mildew from the refrigerator door seals. Wipe them down with neat apple cider vinegar and give your whole fridge a clean with a 1:1 water/vinegar mix.
- Remove limescale from your kettle. Leave a cup of water in your kettle for an hour, boil, then clean it out with water – voilà! – the lime scale is banished by apple cider vinegar.
- Clean the house! Remove all of your toxic-filled cleaners and replace with a mixture of apple cider vinegar and water in a spray bottle. The mixture can be used to clean your house naturally!
