Are you sticking to your New Year’s resolutions? With the second month of the year almost half way over, it is the best time to evaluate your resolutions. If you have not yet made a resolution for 2015, keep these safe driving resolutions in mind to help ensure that you safely make it to all your destinations this year.
- Reduce road rage – if you find yourself getting angry with other drivers while behind the wheel, take a deep breath and relax. Keep in mind that everyone on the road has somewhere to go. Try to leave a couple minutes earlier to avoid having to rush.
- Buckle up – more than 60 percent of people who were involved in car accidents in 2012 could have been saved if they were wearing their seatbelts. Not only can you save your life by wearing your seatbelt, but you can also avoid an expensive ticket.
- Avoid driving while distracted – texting and driving is not the only way to be distracted behind the wheel. Changing the radio, eating, or drinking are all ways to be distracted. Keep your full attention on the road to ensure that you are ready for anything.
- Never drink and drive – drinking and driving is one of the most common causes of car accident fatalities. Even one drink can severely inhibit your driving ability. Make sure to find a sober driver or call a taxi to take you home if you are planning on drinking while you are out. The cost of a taxi ride home is much less expensive than a DUI.
